African Christmas Carol…kind of

This video, at first, feels wrong. Upbeat joyful music, set against images of pain, hunger, child soldiers and war.

Yet the song is declaring the Good News, that Jesus has come to live amongst us. He is the good news to places ravaged by bad news.

Places like the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The lyrics to this songs are Congolese. For decades, the DRC has experienced war, genocide and continued instability with rebel militias like the LRA raping and pillaging indiscriminately. Read here for a quick overview of the country. After multiple years in which the country was too volatile to even fly into, AIM Air has been recently beginning to fly in there (here is another AIM Air missionary’s post on that….check it out—she is a really good writer!)

We are excited to (in the near future) be a part of the AIM Air team and fulfilling a small but necessary role in bringing the gospel of Good News and redemption to places that are so overrun with bad news and ruin.

Noel, Noel Yesu me kwisa ku zinga ti beto
Noel, noel Yesu me kwisa ku zinga ti beto

Kana nge zola ku zaba mwana
Nge fwiti kwisa ku fukama
Kana nge zola ku zaba mwana
Nge fwiti kwisa ku fukama

[English Translation:]
Noel, Noel Jesus has come to live with us
Noel, Noel Jesus has come to live with us

If you want to know the Child
You have to come kneel
If you want to know the Child
You have to come kneel
